Colour drenching

This is a popular  bold choice to paint the whole room in the same colour from walls, ceiling , all woodwork including architraves and doors.

Light sockets maybe be concealed in perspex with only the  switches visible to create a monochromatic coloured  room.

Providing there is enough natural daylight flooding the room  especially in winter, the desired effect will result in a cosy, cocooning inviting space.

The choice of different lights will make all the difference including the importance of incorporating LED strip light to any beams or recessed areas to illuminate that space.

Task light, wall lights and table lamps will finish the lighting plan and enhance a warm atmosphere to the room.

Paintings and objects are magnified because their colours and texture stand out more and do not compete for attention i. e wallpaper pattern and design . To soften the overall atmosphere of the room velvet textured sofas, sheepskin rugs, house plants, mirrors and soft furnishing will provide an attractive well balanced  room.

Colour drenching the room can have a timeless feel and  further enhance any  architectural period  features i.e marble fireplace  with over mantle mirror.

To continue this shaker style colour drenching theme ensuring the over mantle mirror frame to echo the same colour frame of paintings on the walls.

A period defined statement paint colour will not have to  compete with other colours, textures  or wallpaper  patterns.

No statement curtains to make a bold impact but plain  roman blinds or shutters to allow plenty of natural daylight into the room.

Therefore the overall monochrome design ,with a few accent colours for cushions or bold upholstered chairs will make an unique statement to any room.

Consideration has to be  the subtle colour choice and  whether to extend this theme to the whole house or certain rooms i.e hallway to inter connect the rooms.

Colour drenching in other words is a blank canvas to highlight any architectural feature  and lighting is key in completing a cohesive well thought out design. Immersing a room in one colour hue is a bold decision but has to be executed once started to reap the reward of an elegant , classic room.
